TechCrunch Interviews Fab.com CEO, Jason Goldberg
Fab.com is beyond fabulous. The growth of this daily design flash deals site has been incredible. At only eleven weeks in, Fab can boast a substantial list and fan club with a growth rate of about 5k users per day.
Fab’s success is no shock to us. Here at the Sailthru office, Fab emails are always a hot topic – we even ordered some seriously cool grenade-shaped soap from… Continue reading
Upcoming Launch: New Interface!
On July 30th, Sailthru will roll out a redesign of our new user interface (UI). Our front-end developer, Emily Maskin, is the driving force behind the new interface, and we think it’s a more inspired, intuitive and informative design. The redesign will sport a fresh look, an improved organization, more information at your fingertips and lots of new features — coolest of which, in my book, is
Today’s Launches: Scout and “Your News”
I am excited to announce that our client and partner Business Insider has launched “Your News,” a new service powered by Scout, Sailthru’s latest behavioral product. Your News provides the new level of personalization that’s sorely needed to meet the expectations of today’s sophisticated consumers.
There’s too much information online for me to absorb… Continue reading
Optdown vs. Unsubscribe
I recently unsubscribed from an email…and it got me thinking about opting down vs. unsubscribing.
Have you ever unsubscribed from an email sent by a company you really like just because you just felt like your inbox was being invaded? Most of us have. Two of the main reasons users unsubscribe is because they feel communication is too often, or that it’s irrelevant. If
List Comprehensions
Effective today, Sailthru now supports Python-style list comprehensions in our Zephyr syntax.
What’s a list comprehension? Basically, it’s an elegant way to run through a list, filtering out items that don’t match a criteria, and possibly applying a transformation to each item in the list.
Why’d we add it, besides the fact that list comprehensions are cool? Mostly because it’s been a bit awkward in the… Continue reading
API HTTP Error Codes
For a while, our API wasn’t as RESTful as it could be. That’s because we didn’t make use of HTTP header codes.
Unless the API was truly down, we would always return 200 OK, and use a Sailthru Error Code to denote the exact type of error.
After reviewing our existing client libraries to make sure this change would be a non-breaking change, we’ve added… Continue reading
Two-Factor SMS Authentication
Protecting your customers’ personally identifiable information (PII) is absolutely vital. We want to give you the tools to keep your data safe.
Effective today, we’ve introduced two-factor SMS Authentication which we will be rolling out to sensitive parts of our system.
The next time you login, you’ll be prompted to set up an SMS number that you can use to receive occasional verification confirmations when performing certain… Continue reading
How to avoid an Epsilon style leak
After speaking with quite a few people, and being somewhat experienced in the security of websites, I thought I should throw in on the recent Epsilon hack. Usually a hack of this size is caused by a human, as yes unfortunately, you are the weakest link.
The reason is simple: phishing emails are sent to individuals that if the user clicks, may end up installing a kind of… Continue reading
A New Engagement Level
Our user engagement levels are one of the best single predictors of who will respond to your emails. While it varies across different userbases, typically the users who are previously active have clicks, opens, and RPM (revenue per thousand emails sent) of at least 5-10 times and often 30 or more times that of dormant and disengaged users.
But there’s one group of people that don’t fit as… Continue reading
Easy Horizon Tracking
Our Horizon features are really cool, and they’re part of what makes Sailthru unique. You can dynamically learn about individual users’ interests, and personalize every aspect of their emails.
Some of our customers (most recently Flavorpill) are using this technology to revolutionize the email newsletter. If you’re reading this, you probably should, too.
Up until now, we’ve always done Horizon tracking by throwing a bit of Javascript… Continue reading
